The Florida Independent Hockey League was a concept brought to life by a need. Too many teen aged players not getting the opportunity to grow and develop in the game we love. Players that can not play travel due to finance or jobs, or not enough room on local High School teams, created a need for something different. Enter the FIHL. Not only a local travel/High School quality league, but a league with a completely different format–one that highlights the players. With it’s NHL regulation game play and features unique to only the FIHL in the south, the timing was perfect.
