The Ellenton Ice and Sports Forum will be the site for Week Two of the FIHL’s inaugural season action! Saturday October 24th, the Sand Sharks and the Minutemen will square off in a battle for first place as both teams won their season openers last week. The Sand Sharks will be looking to be the stand alone team atop the standings early in the FIHL’s first season. Assistant Coach Souza had this to say, “the Minute Men will certainly be our biggest test and we can not take them lightly.” The Militia will be missing their top two forwards but have employed the services of FIHL Pool Player Nolan Borek to help fill the gaps. Coach Frontiero has concerns, “They had a huge game last week, certainly a lot of fire power there and we will be looking– at least for this week while everyone is out, to play a tight checking game and just keep it close.” Puck drop for this one is at 4:45pm.
At 7:15pm the Sting Rays will look to bounce back from a torrid season opener against the Sand Sharks. With no where to go but up, there is no reason for them not to play a much better game this week. Coach Guay commented via telephone. “Well for starters I will finally be able to be with my team. We have not even met yet and we were also missing two big defensemen last week so as far as I am concerned, this for us is game one.” The Aces, who will be the Sting Rays opponent this week, came close last week vs the Minute Men but came up short. Coach Zerfass on the matter, “Great game, fun to coach, fun to watch, and we were very happy with our first game against a solid Minute Men team. Certainly expecting another great showing this week vs the Rays.”
